Thread Eggs

What You Need:

  • Small oval balloons
  • Scissors
  • Embroidery floss or sewing thread
  • Liquid starch or fabric stiffener
The basic idea is to soak embroidery thread in fabric stiffener/starch, then wrap around small balloons. Pop and remove the balloon when the thread is dry and hard. Hang from a tree made from a small branch! Click here for the full instructions from Better Homes and Gardens.

Here's the latest in the Sweater Sweets Series: matching pillow and quilt from GetCrafty.com. I think she hit up a bunch of thrift stores to collect enough sweaters for the quilt. The pillow is absolutely adorable!!

Sweater Mittens

Sweater Sweets Part 4
(click here for Part 1, Part 2, Part 3)

Once again, MarthaStewart.com comes up with clever ideas for sweaters. I bet you didn't know there were so many things you could do?! I sure am pleasantly surprised. :)
Instructions:
For the mittens, just trace your hand (fingers together, thumb slightly extended) on the sweater and cut through both layers. You can use the ribbing edge of the sweater for the decorative edge of your mittens. Sew the 2 pieces together right sides together, leaving the bottom open. Turn right-side-out and Viola! Sew on tiny bells or embroider your initials for embellishments.
