Stunts Rocked Sac-Town!

Amazing stunts, flips, wrecks, and crazy acrobatics left us speechless at the Sacramento FMX (Freestyle Motorcross) show at Arco Arena.

James and I went with some extended family to watch what I thought would be some interesting, but not thrilling, dirtbike competition. Boy, was I wrong! With 15 foot flames shooting from the entrance, 11 or so professional bikers came roaring into the sold-out arena with 14,000 fans cheering at almost painful Decibels, we had a blast. This was just another day at work for the eclectic group of riders, ranging from ages 16 years old to nearly 40.

Four major ramps were staged in the middle of the court, two for launching and two for landing zones. The competition was judged on the difficulty of tricks each rider would perform as he's launched through the air from one ramp to the other. "The Ruler", "Nac Nac", "Tsunami"... No, these aren't drinks you'd order at a bar. These are the names of some of the tricks or stunts that you might see at an event like this. My personal favorite is "Crack Nac To Saran Wrap" - huh?

Ethan (age 5) and Hunter (age 3) were fixated on the dirtbikes as they soared through the air. I've never seen these two rambunctious nephews so quiet. Their blinkless eyes almost bulged and their mouths hung open for most of the 2-hour show.

I would defintely reccommed taking the family to see motorcross and dirtbike shows or competitions. We had a really fun time and saw some amazing things. I have much more respect for what they can do.
